NetizenBali.com - Whether Bali is home or a place you’ve visited, chances are you’ve got memories attached to the iconic McDonald’s outlet in the popular tourist area of Kuta Beach, which is reportedly closing down for good tomorrow, 20 years since it opened.

Reports of the imminent closure circulated widely online over the weekend, with people sharing photos of the announcement as it was posted on the entrance of the outlet.

“McDonald’s Kuta Beach will be closed permanently [on] Sept. 29, 2020 at 9pm. Thank you for all [the] good memories you shared for the past 20 years,” the flyer reads.

Travelers and local residents alike have frequented the fast food restaurant over the years, as it is located in one of the most popular tourist areas in Bali and being a literal stone throw’s away from the beach.

Netizens were quick to share their memories in this outlet on social media, many of whom suggested that the closure may be connected to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“It is at this McD that I was taught to dip my french fries onto ice cream by a foreigner.”

"Only Corona can close down McD. I’m so sad.”

An outlet staff who wishes to remain anonymous told Kumparan that questions about the closure can be directed to corporate, as they did not have the authority to provide an explanation.

Calls to this particular branch were not answered by the time of publication, but Coconuts has reached out to McDonald’s Indonesia and will update this story as soon as we get a reply.
