Turkish Airlines first from Europe to resume flights to Bali
NetizenBali.com, DENPASAR - Europe is once again bound for Bali, with Turkish Airlines reactivating the first direct flight route to the Island of Gods in two years.
The Turkish flag carrier has become the latest addition to Bali’s direct flights’ list as their Boeing 787-900 Dreamliner landed last night at the Ngurah Rai International Airport after flying from Istanbul.
Turkish Airlines flight THY-066 arrived at the Bali airport yesterday at 7:41pm, carrying 288 passengers. The airline flew back to Istanbul at 9:00pm, then carrying 208 passengers. The airline is scheduled to operate the route every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday going forward.
“We welcome back Turkish Airlines, which is flying to Bali again since the pandemic [started],” said PT Angkasa Pura I general manager Herry A. Y. Sikado today.
According to the Ngurah Rai airport operator, PT Angkasa Pura I, there are now seven cities abroad that are connected to Denpasar via direct flights, namely Tokyo (via Narita), Sydney, Singapore, Melbourne, Kuala Lumpur, Doha, and Istanbul.
PT Angkasa Pura I also recorded 28,535 passengers flying in and out of Ngurah Rai Airport between Feb. 3 to March 29 this year, or up by 5.4 percent from the same period a year ago.
“We hope this positive growth will recover the aviation industry as well as Bali Island’s tourism,” Herry added. (NB/ coconutsbali)
