JEMBRANA, NETIZENBALI.COM - The Regent of Jembrana, I Nengah Tamba, once again inspected the progress of the revitalization of the Negara General Market. On Tuesday (20/8/2024), Tamba emphasized that this was the last opportunity for socialization and inspection related to the market’s revitalization progress. Also present were the Chairman of the Kelian Association, village heads, and sub-district heads who witnessed the current condition of the market firsthand. Regent Tamba aims to complete the market revitalization by the end of August so that the market can soon operate and traders can start their buying and selling activities.
He stressed the importance of quality market construction, according to specifications, and on time. “This market will not only be a trading center but also a tourism icon. We want people to shop while enjoying a comfortable and beautiful atmosphere. Traders are expected to offer quality goods, including fresh fruits,” said Regent Tamba during the site inspection. The Regent also revealed that the market construction progress had reached 97 percent.
During his recent visit to the National Capital (IKN), he reported the market revitalization progress to the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) and invited the Minister and President to inaugurate the market in September. “I assure you, by September, traders will be able to occupy the provided kiosks and stalls. We will also hold a lottery for the distribution of kiosks and stalls to avoid complaints from traders. All work must be completed by August 30,” he stressed.
As part of the promotional steps, Regent Tamba stated that market fees would be waived until December. The New Jembrana Market will also be the center of activities during the City Anniversary series, including a people’s market, exhibitions, and culinary events from September 10 to 15. The event is expected to introduce the market while providing entertainment to the community. “The Negara General Market is ready to become a new trading center and tourist destination that will positively impact the local economy and community welfare,” added Regent Tamba. Meanwhile, the Head of Cooperatives, SMEs, and Trade, I Komang Agus Adinata, emphasized that market management would be strictly regulated according to the Regent’s Regulation. He stressed that no shops would be used as warehouses. Warehouse management will be carried out by the market management with strict supervision, and strict sanctions will be imposed if violations occur, ranging from verbal warnings to license revocation.
