Eager to save more surplus food, Scholars Of Sustenance Indonesia opens a branch in Java

DENPASAR, NETIZENBALI.com - Scholar of Sustenance Indonesia is a non-profit organization focusing in the field of food rescue, and has been established in Bali since 2017. Since its establishment, SOS has saved meals from being thrown to landfill, and redistributed to people and children in need in Bali.

In early December this year, to save even more, Bo H. Holmgreen as Founder and CEO, decided to open a new branch in Banyuwangi, Java.

“The opening in Banyuwangi is a form of our vision and mission, to save more surplus food from going to landfill, and emitting gas that harms our environment,” said Holmgreen. “We will also distribute the surplus food to the people in need in Banyuwangi, " he added.

This decision is also supported by Bali Viking Sunset Studios (BVS), a new production house that is building a film production studio in Tabanan Regency. During the inauguration in Sanur on November 11, the studio donated  IDR 300 million, which will be converted into food for almost 500,000 meals, and will be distributed to people in need.

By opening a new branch, this year Scholars Of Sustenance global will get a new achievement, distributing 25 million meals, preventing food waste from going to landfill, and producing emission gases that are harmful to the environment. Not only that, Scholars of Sustenance participate in helping the community in facing the challenges of rising prices, food crises and climate change.

Prior to opening branch in Banyuwangi, Scholars of Sustenance Indonesia had also expanded to the island of Java, by distributing food packages to villages in East Java in April and May 2022.

“By opening a new branch in Banyuwangi, we’re hoping that we can save more surplus food, and help alot more people in need. We’re also hoping we can open more branches in all cities in Indonesia.” Holmgreen added.

This is also in line with the G20, 2022 motto, Recover Together, Recover Stronger. Scholars of Sustenance is helping Indonesia to recover and become even better, starting from small things that will have a big impact on many parties. (NB/*)
