DENPASAR, NETIZENBALI.com - Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG) Bali and SOS collaborated with “Giving for Good” to distribute food to the community in commemoration of the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Food Waste on Thur. 29, 2022 recently in Seminyak, Bali.

The International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Food Waste, which was established in 2019, emphasizes the critical need to lower food loss and waste.

Mr. Andreas Bergel, General Manager of the Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach, gave a motivational speech to kick off the event. Mr. Bergel emphasized the value of preventing food waste and appreciated the wonderful job SOS Indonesia has been doing to address the problem of food waste and feed the disadvantaged populations at the event in which 25 members of the IHG hotel employees and the SOS team participated.

SOS Indonesia presented the activities, vision, mission, and values of SOS to the hotel staff at this wonderful event. SOS also explained two important SOS activities Food Rescue and Rescue Kitchen. SOS Indonesia conducted a food safety training to wrap up the session, outlining the step-by-step process for food donations from SOS hospitality partners like hotels, restaurants, bakeries, and supermarkets.

The process that must be followed, including maintaining hygiene and properly separating food before delivering it to SOS, was also emphasized during the training.

The event continued with the distribution of 300 nutritious meals to the low-income community of Banjar Yang Batu Kauh, including day workers, retirees, housewives, drivers, and small businesses.

The leader of Yang Batu Kauh village in Denpasar expressed gratitude for the thoughtful food donation and expressed the hope that it would mark a turning point in Bali's tourism industry's comeback. (NB/*)
