Wonder of the Seas departs on transatlantic to begin inaugural European season

NetizenBali.com, FORT LAUDERDALE (FLORIDA) - After completing its inaugural season in the Caribbean the world’s largest cruise ship Wonder of the Seas, set sail from Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Wednesday, April 20, to the Mediterranean.

The ship is currently sailing a 14-Night Transatlantic cruise with scheduled stops to some of the most popular destinations in Spain including Malaga on April 30, Cartagena on May 1, Valencia on May 2. Palma De Mallorca on May 3, ending the voyage in Barcelona on May 4.

During the repositioning voyage Wonder of the Seas will spent nine straight days at sea sailing across six time zones. Ships guests and crew will experience endless ocean horizons and hour forward time changes on the ship’s clock, usually adjusted after midnight. For the guest this is a unique experience, however, for the crew this means they lose an hour of sleep, and have to start the day an hour earlier than normal.

After completing its inaugural season in the Caribbean the world’s largest cruise ship Wonder of the Seas, set sail from Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Wednesday, April 20, to the Mediterranean.

Once Wonder of the Seas reaches the Mediterranean this colossus will start 7-Night Western Mediterranean cruises with Barcelona and Civitavecchia (Rome) as turnaround ports.

The move across the Atlantic also caught the attention of Royal Caribbean International President and CEO Michael Bayley, who took to social media to celebrate the milestone.

"It's a BIG day," Mr. Bayley wrote on his Facebook page. "Wonder of the Seas has departed Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to begin her 14-night transatlantic crossing for her first season in Europe!"

When the European cruise season wraps up in October, Wonder of the Seas will return across the Atlantic to offer year-round cruises from Port Canaveral, Florida

Weighting at 236,857gt. Wonder of The Seas is not just a regular cruise ship. The vessel measures 362 m long and 64 m wide, and can accommodate 6,988 guests and 2,300 crew members. (NB/ cruise info
