NetizenBali, Denpasar - Upon observing the data pertaining to COVID-19 cases in Bali, the central government is exploring the possibility of reopening its borders to international visitors. The Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, revealed that the number of COVID-19 cases in Bali has recently decreased. According to him, this allows economic activity in Bali to be resumed, including the tourism sector.

“The number of cases in Bali in the last few weeks has shown a decline due to the implementation of safety protocols at city and village levels,” said Luhut during a meeting to discuss tourism recovery on Thursday (25/2).

He noted that in order to reopen tourism for international travelers, the government must first establish new regulations regarding traveling.

“There will be a new regulation called Penalty for Health Protocol. This policy will control the implementation of prevention protocols in tourism areas and penalize violators by giving them warnings of deportation if necessary,” Luhut added.

He’s optimistic that vaccine distribution on the island will help gain trust from international travelers as over 13,000 medical workers are already vaccinated in Bali.

“We also prepare to hold the G-20 Summit Conference in Bali, so we could use that momentum to show the world how we handled the pandemic in order to ensure them that we could safely welcome visitors back to Bali,” Luhut concluded. (thebalisun)
