President Joko Widodo Opens 38th Bali Arts Festival
Denpasar, Baliterkini.com - Indonesian President Joko Widodo formally opened the38th Bali Arts Festival (PKB-38) via a parade held around the Bajra Sandhi Monument of the People’s Struggle on Saturday, June 11, 2016.
Quoted by Beritabali.com, President Joko Widodo said: “I am happy to be here in Bali today, on the island of the Gods, in Bali. This moment of (the opening of) the 38th Bali Arts Festival has been long awaited by the people the foreign visitors."
The President described the Arts Festival in Bali as serving as both a means of education and as a motor for the people's economy of Bali.
President Widodo was accompanied by Indonesia’s First Lady, Iriana Joko Widodo, who, together with the President, wore traditional Balinese dress for the occasion.
Also joining the Presidential delegation on hand to start the parade and the month-long festival were also Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika, the Minister of Tourism Arief Yahya, and Minister of Education and Culture Anies Baswedan.[ BTcom / balidiscovery.com ]
